Find a way to make white noise to block out the noises around you. If you have access to a white noise machine or fan, turn that on to provide a constant noise to block what is going on around you. If that is not available, go to SimplyNoise to play a white passive noise loop or download a file. If you would rather have an application, download Noisy for Macintosh. If you don't have access to the internet, look around your house for noise canceling headphones, earplugs, or a towel to wrap around your head. If necessary, even plug your ears like a little kid. Anything to get peace and quiet for meditation.
If you travel a lot on airplanes, it is very nice to have a pair of the passive noise canelling headphones that have been on the market for a while now. They make any airplane trip more enjoyable and often save me from landing with a headache. Most of the time though, you just want to wear a regular pair of earphones to listen to your mp3 player and not those bulky noise canceling ones.
The first thing you need to do is to Identify the cause of your stress. The next step is to talk to someone about it. I do not mean in an angry or aggressive way, but just calmly discuss the problem with someone who may be able to help make some changes. Do not assume that the problem cannot be at least reduced. You may not be able to turn down factory noise, but ear defenders or screens may be a way of significantly reducing the stress.
You'll need to make sure your diet is healthy and contains these because they can help prevent ringing in the ears. Vitamin B is especially important because the passive noise cancelling headset lack of it is known to help trigger tinnitus. If necessary, use high-quality supplements.
If you set out to find a good pair of earphones, you first need to figure out what qualities you are looking for and how much you are willing to pay. If you find a pair that are real comfortable and yet have poor sound, you will still not have what you are looking for. Not everyone puts the same value on the quality of sound, as some people want only the best. Other people can't really tell the difference anyway and any middle of the road pair of earphones would be fine for them.
Ear defenders- ear plugs and cotton wool won't suffice. Get yourself a set of ear defenders as continued use without them could potentially cause lasting and irreversible ear damage.
